Karo Lucas


Born on 1951,in an Armenian family in Iran is widly known as the father of the Robatic of Iran.
Lucas first received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering (Fanni) University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran in 1973 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1976. He is a Professor, and a member (as well as the founder- Director) of Center of Excellence for Control and Intelligent Processing, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Tehran.
His research interests include biological computing, computational intelligence, uncertain systems, intelligent control, neural networks, multiagent systems, data mining, business intelligence, financial modeling, and knowledge management. Professor Lucas was the founder of the ISRF, Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics
and has assisted in founding several new research organizations and engineering disciplines in Iran. He is the holder of the patent for Speaker Independent Persian Isolated Word Neurorecognizer. Professor Caro Lucas has published about 150 papers in Journals and over 300 papers in Conferences.
Professor Lucas was elected as the honorable Iranian Science and Culture Hall of Fame in 2006 who is the second winner of this honorable award from ECE Department of University of Tehran, which is a great deal of respect with a high repute for Iranian Scientists and Artists to be elected to this position.
Karo Lucas passed away on July 8 2010 in Tehran.
